Lift and slide windows
what is lift and slide windows?
Lift and slide aluminum window is a type of sliding window that can withstand the weight of heavy hinges up to one ton. These windows do not need inscriptions or holders and are suitable for more beautiful facades and the use of large glass dimensions. So they are a good alternative to traditional sliding windows. The main problem in traditional windows is the sealing issue. In aluminum lift and slide window systems, due to the type of fittings used, this defect has been completely eliminated.
In this system, ventilation is done through EPDM tires instead of using rubber strips. In the traditional system, because the strips prevent the movement of the window due to friction with each other, the designers have designed a type of window by making lift and slide fittings that first rises from its place when moving and separates the strips from the window. And when the windows are locked, the bars return to their original position. This causes the sealing to be done through the strips.
What is the difference between an aluminum lift and sliding window and an aluminum sliding window?
A typical aluminum sliding window uses a fixed static rail at the bottom of the outer frame. The window is supported by small rollers that move along the bottom rail. To maintain insulation and prevent air penetration, the distance between the rails and the window is very small in sliding windows. This causes significant friction. Over time, corrosion increases the distance and the roller bearings wear out. So sliding windows open harder and harder (especially on larger doors and windows). You’ve probably noticed it yourself in old sliding doors and windows.
Lift and slide aluminum windows prevent the problems of ordinary sliding windows by using a mechanism that raises the door before pulling. By lowering the handle, the valve is raised by the pulley system. In this case, the empty space is further away from the bottom rail. So you can open the window even with the push of a finger. In addition to the ease of opening the window, this mechanism makes the rails completely protected from corrosion.
A combination of a typical aluminum window and a lift and slide
One of the beautiful designs is the combination of the M11000 window profile with the S560 three-rail lift and slide profile. You can see the detailed pictures of this design below:
advantages of aluminium lift&slide windows
ease of use
The opening handles of this type of window, with a simple rotating motion, not only unlocks the opening, but also raises the opening at the same time.
More resistance, reduced Abrasion and tear
In the design of the lift and slide window, the minimum friction is possible without losing the insulation against the intrusion of the weather. This is because the opening rises before moving, allowing the seals to separate and avoid any friction during operation. In addition, more and thicker sealants can be used. Therefore, these openings offer much better insulation than conventional openings. It also increases durability because the sealants are not exposed to friction.
Improved resistance to the entry of thieves
When the aluminum slide lift door closes and the handle closes, not only are the locking mechanisms engaged, but the full weight of the opening is placed on the frame. To move the locks, thieves not only need to apply enough pressure to break the multi-point locking mechanism, but they must also move the weight of the opening. Due to the fact that the slide lift openings are easily more than 90 to 180 kg, the security is significantly increased. In addition, even if the opening is slightly open for ventilation, it cannot be opened until the handle can be moved from the outside.
